Kay Ellen Sloan, born in DuQuoin, IL in 1971, came from a long line of talent on both sides of her family.  Her mother’s parents were Vaudeville-type actors who traveled around the country.  Kay’s father was a musician/singer who played in several bands, including the “Rockin’ Rebels” in the 60’s and 70’s.  He was also featured many times on a local TV program called “Lucky Leroy Show.”  At a very young age Kay Ellen knew she wanted to follow in her family’s  footsteps.

She started playing piano, by ear, at the age of 8 in churches and nursing homes.  At the age of 12 her mother took her on vacation to Nashville to see the old Grand Ol’ Opry.  After some coaxing, Kay Ellen played on the original Grand Ol’ Opry piano and sang for a small touring crowd.  Upon hearing the applause, she was hooked.
